WMS Procedures Manual: Patron Holds

Creating & Deleting Holds in a Patron Record

Patron Record -- Holds

On this screen you can see which items are on hold for the patron, the item’s pick-up location and how long they are available for. Some of the fields are hidden by default, but can be unhidden by clicking the gear icon.  You can also create and delete holds here.

Creating a Hold in a Patron Record

To create a Hold in a patron record, open the patron record and click on the Hold Tab to open the patron's hold screen. Click on Create Hold button.

A new screen will open allowing you to create a new hold request for the patron. There are two types of Hold level: Title level and Item level. The Pickup location defaults to the campus you have signed on to as your main campus. It gives you a choice of where to send the item for the patron. This screen also allows you to set the parameters for how long the hold is on the item.

Title level allows for you to search for the item based on its title. Type the title in to the search field and click Find.

If the item is available in the TCC Libraries, a new screen will open. Click on the title of the item record.

The Create New Hold Request screen reopens. Select the location for pickup. (Note: the pickup location defaults to the metro campus.) Manually enter the hold until date and click Save Changes button. A Title Hold has now been placed on the item. Items are held for 2 weeks from the current date.

An Item Level hold can also be placed on an item in a Patron Record. Follow the same steps as above, but select Item instead of Title.

Search for the item by bib/OCLC# (cataloged in OCLC) or by the barcode (in TCC Library catalog.)

Select Pickup location and hold until date and click Save Changes button. A Hold has been placed in the patron record.

The Hold can be edited later. Open the patron record. On the patron's hold screen click Edit, just underneath the title of the item on hold.

The Edit Existing Hold Request screen opens.

The Hold can be deleted in the Patron Record. Select the item and click the Delete Holds button.
