With their strong analytical skills, expertise in data analysis, and ability to derive meaningful insights from complex datasets, Statisticians play a crucial role in driving decision-making processes, optimizing operations, and solving real-world problems. The department, established in 1968 as the first of its kind, combines the expertise of biostatisticians and epidemiologists to address pressing public health and biomedical challenges. The BS/MS in Biostatistics Prepares graduates for a dynamic career at the intersection of mathematics and biostatistics, leveraging advanced statistical techniques to solve complex health challenges, drive evidence-based research, and contribute to the advancement of public health and scientific inquiry.

The purpose of the Ragland Family Education Foundation Scholarship Program is to provide financial assistance to Oklahoma students with limited educational funding who want to obtain a college degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM).

The American Statistical Association and many of its chapters and sections recognize those who have made outstanding contributions to the field of statistics or the association.

Mathematicians and statisticians typically do the following:

Statisticians are in high demand in a variety of fields. As the largest professional association for statisticians in the world, the ASA serves as the main clearinghouse for information about jobs, careers, and employment for the statistical profession.

The American Statistical Association is the world’s largest community of statisticians, the “Big Tent for Statistics.” It is the second-oldest, continuously operating professional association in the country. Since it was founded in Boston in 1839, the ASA has supported excellence in the development, application, and dissemination of statistical science.

Established in 1885, the International Statistical Institute is a non-profit, non-government organization, with individual and institutional members in over 150 countries. Its main objective is to promote the understanding, development, and good practice of statistics worldwide by providing a welcoming environment for advancing statistical knowledge, learning best practices, sharing state-of-the-art developments, and by creating opportunities to network.
