This part of the course covers European society from the 1870s through the end of World War I in 1918. Major topics within that era include:
The themes of this unit include: the overwhelming transformation of European society through consumerism and scientific advances; the economic, political, and human impact of imperialism on European colonies across the globe; how science and technology increased the human cost of war; and how World War I set the stage for future conflict.
For this paper, you will be taking a position on an issue, and making an argument.
