DMS 1002 - Introduction to Diagnostic Medical Sonography

This course provides an overview of the fundamental concepts in diagnostic medical sonography. Topics include patient assessment, medical asepsis, body mechanics, medical emergencies, professional ethics, communication, and medico-legal considerations. Students are also introduced to vascular technology and other medical imaging modalities. Emphasis is placed on developing basic ultrasound scanning skills. A laboratory component is included.
