A KRP (Knowledge Retention Policy) is used to outline and describe the different intellectual assets of an organization. It includes Knowledge Areas that are then broken down into Knowledge Topics. There are many ways to construct this type of policy, but for our organization, it is divided by functional knowledge areas. This document describes how our organization is constructed, who is responsible for different tasks, whether or not the processes and procedures are well documented, identification of those responsible for the different areas, and what types of transfer mechanisms exist to transfer that knowledge across the organization.
