Be the Change! Building Stronger Institutions: Embedded Tutoring

With the embedded tutoring plan, a tutor works in the classroom under the instructor’s guidance to help students understand course concepts and enhance student engagement. The tutor attends several class meetings as determined by the instructor to provide support to students as they work with class content and texts. Tutors will also work with students one-on-one outside of class.

• To create a partnership between instructor and tutor to promote student success 
• To build stronger partnership between faculty and the writing centers
• To promote student success and retention through reinforcement of important reading and writing concepts 
• To connect students to college staff and services 
• To build community and relationships so students feel welcome and will return
