Focus on Fahrenheit 451: Home

Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury. The title refers to the temperature at which paper burns. A dystopian society is depicted with books outlawed and the role of "firemen"  to burn books. A resistance group arises, and to save great literature from being lost forever, members of this group each commit a book to memory.  

"Bradbury said he wrote Fahrenheit 451 on a typewriter in the basement of UCLA's Powell Library to show his great love for books and libraries.  "I am completely in love with libraries," Bradbury said in 2009....The title ranked number 69 on the American Library Association's Top 100 Banned/Challenged Books: 2000-09."  Library Journal, July 2012, p. 10
