Caring Campus: CC Resources

Cultivating Connection in a Course Setting

IEBC

The Caring Campus Initiative, developed by the Institute for Evidence-Based Change (IEBC) is designed to create a college environment that increases students’ sense of connectedness and belonging and, in turn, completion of each student’s education goals.

TCC Caring Campus

Show They Belong

What Can We Do?

  • I show I care by making an effort to learn each student's name.
  • Create learning communities by having break-out sessions and pair/share activities and discussion boards.
  • Making course expectations clear and providing early and clear feedback.
  • Connect to each student by learning about their unique interests and goals
  • Make myself available to students by responding to emails promptly, accommodating their schedules, and welcoming and encouraging questions, spending time getting to know them.
  • Creating a culture of compassion and understanding by listening to each student's situation and helping them to be successful in their career path.
  • I care by encouraging students to bring their full authentic selves to the classroom
  • All students belong here because TCC is a warm and caring community that believes everyone should have the opportunity to succeed.
