Short Story Literary Criticism: Home

General Information

This guide can be used for a comp II English class which has literary assignments.

Literary Criticism is available in books, reference works, and journals. The Gale company is the power house for literary reference material in printed and electronic format.   The Campus Libraries subscribe to various Gale reference titles in the printed format and are shelved in the PN, PR, and PS section of the reference area. There is no comprehensive printed index available that allows searching by title of work or author in the various series volumes. Some of the reference series have a separately published index while other series have a cumulative index in the back of the printed volume.

Good news though. There is a comprehensive electronic index Gale Literary Index.  See above tab heading. The index does not link to the series titles.  To get the full-text information note the title, volume and pages and with that information search LCO [Literature Criticism Online/Artemis] or GVRL [Gale Virtual Reference Library].

The above tabs lead to specific online literary collections.  Each collection [GVRL or LCO] indexes literary series.

The online collections allow for full-text access, and mirrors the print information of the Gale volumes.
