Decimals and fractions are used to represent the same number. For example, 0.5 is the same number as 1/2.
Many times, if you can simply read a decimal number aloud, you can convert it to a fraction. For example, when you read "0.3", you say "three tenths". "Three tenths" can be written as the fraction "3/10".
